We are a group of Barbeque Enthusiasts that provide an annual KCBS sanctioned barbeque contest to encourage community involvement through family friendly competition and support of local charities.
Professionals and amateurs compete for cash prizes and awards in Blue Springs, Missouri. This is the only barbeque competition that allows its contestants to sell samples of barbeque, side dishes, and desserts to the public. This is allowed through the “buck-a-bone” voucher program. These vouchers allow the competitors the opportunity to proceeds, as well as contribute a percentage to local charities, such as The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department.
As the third oldest contest in the Midwest, the Barbeque Blaze-Off contest has grown in Blue Springs, requiring a larger location and more than 80 cooking teams, and 90 judges. The Blaze-Off received a special honor when Governor John Ash croft proclaimed it Missouri’s “First State Championship Contest”. This is an organization of volunteers, all of whom have other day jobs but give of their time because they love barbecue, the competition and desire to support local charities.
This contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
So come on out to our friendly barbeque competition, where you can listen to good music, dance some zumba, and enjoy some good ole barbeque!
